Magellium, the coordinator of the SEED-FD project, gathered partners at ECMWF in Reading, UK, for a successful kick-off meeting on February 7-8, 2024. This event provided an opportunity to review the project’s objectives and coordinate tasks for the upcoming phases.
The SEED-FD project aims to enhance the quality and scope of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS) Early Warning System for floods and droughts. By integrating satellite data with advanced in-situ observations, SEED-FD seeks to transform flood and drought forecasting. This initiative intends to improve disaster management practices and address critical gaps in hydrological forecasting, especially in regions with limited data.
The kick-off meeting served as an occasion to reflect on the project aims and organise the tasks for the project’s further course. Members of the Advisory Board and the European Commission contributed valuable insights. During the meeting, discussions delved into the project’s context and potential impact, leveraging advanced hydrological simulations.
Stay tuned for updates on the progress of the project by visiting the SEED-FD website regularly. Exciting insights and developments will be shared as the project unfolds, offering a glimpse into the future of hydrological forecasting.
